Florida State University
ICSC is delighted that Florida State University’s Center for Real Estate Education & Research is a member our the ICSC University Partners Program. The program is consistently ranked among the nation’s Top 10 programs at public institutions, as designated by U.S. News and World Report. Their world-class research scholars are led by C.F. Sirmans, the Chastain Eminent Scholar in Real Estate. The Center offers an undergraduate major and real estate finance specialization in their online MBA program. The Center also serves as the administrative home for the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, the discipline’s leading academic research association.
FSU’s real estate program places a high degree of emphasis on the professional development of their students, during the college experience, focusing on networking, internships, and applied experiences, all accompanied by the ever-present Seminole enthusiasm and pride.Ryan Dietz, the Center’s Director of External Relations, has been instrumental in partnering with ICSC, bringing student groups to the 2013 RECon and ICSC Florida Conference, where FSU participated in ICSC’s "University Row" and the student mentoring initiative. They will also be involved in the upcoming Southeast Conference in Atlanta, October 28-30. Last year, we were pleased to facilitate the FSU students in a shopping center tour and seminar organized by member company Regency Centers, based in Jacksonville, featuring Regency President & COO Brian Smith. Of the partnership with ICSC, Deitz say, "The relationships that students form in college are some of the strongest they will have throughout their lives. By Florida State University partnering with ICSC, our students are not only able to form relationships with students from other institutions, but also with seasoned professionals whom will be their future partners in the industry.
ICSC’s regional programming, student-specific events, mentoring opportunities, and renowned national conferences all immerse our students in the retail real estate industry before graduation. The result for us at Florida State is a student body who is not only well-trained in the technical aspects of real estate, but then also able to start their career with industry experience and a large professional network.
We are proud to be a University Partner with ICSC because of the enormous support for students – the leaders of the next generation. The University Partners program of ICSC fortifies the future of the industry, strengthens the network for our institution, and stimulates the careers of our outstanding students."
Thanks to the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of FSU for encouraging our University Partnership with this wonderful academic program.
